June/July roundup

We’ve had a really great time over the past few weeks, playing a few really nice gigs in the south of England (including the very first Efpi Festival) before heading over to Rotterdam to be part of an incredible line-up at the legendary North Sea Jazz Festival. Thanks to everyone who made it to one (or more) of the gigs, and as always to the promoters and amazing venue and festival staff who make it all happen… Check out videos below from Love Supreme and North Sea, and loads more photos in our website gallery and on our facebook page.

Huge thanks also to Arts Council England for supporting the UK gigs – large ensembles are financially very difficult to sustain, and funding from organisations such as ACE and the PRS for Music Foundation are vital to us.

One more gig left for our summer: we’re delighted to be returning to Canary Wharf Jazz Festival in London, where we’ll headline proceedings on Sunday 21st August. Last time we were there in 2012 it was the hottest day of the year, fingers crossed it happens again! See you there…

European Tour THANKS

This is us last week, very tired but very happy after the final gig of our Easter European tour – our most extensive continental tour to date. We had an amazing time playing in Berlin, Poznan, Olomouc, Vienna and Munich, thank you so much to everyone we met for making us feel so welcome! It was humbling to have such a warm reception everywhere we went, especially in countries that we’d never visited before, and we can’t wait to come back… Plenty of photos from all of the gigs, in the van and on the road on our website gallery.

BBC Jazz on 3 show from Ronnie Scott’s repeated

If you missed the BBC Jazz on 3 programme featuring music recorded at our All In album launch gig at Ronnie Scott’s when it was originally broadcast in September, you’re in luck – it will be repeated TONIGHT (4th January). Make sure you tune in from 11pm UK time on BBC Radio 3, or wherever you are in the world you can listen again on the iPlayer for 30 days here.

And of course, don’t forget you can also see what the gig looked like from our point of view by taking a look at the special video we made using headmounted GoPro cameras – its on YouTube here.

Festive greetings!

If two robins admiring an All In badge under some mistletoe doesn’t make you feel Christmassy then I don’t know what will…

Have a lovely Christmas and New Year and we’ll see you in 2016!

Leeds/Sheffield – November 2015

It was a pleasure to round off what has been a busy and exciting 2015 with gigs in Leeds and Sheffield last week – huge thanks to everybody who came out in what was pretty grizzly weather, and to Metamorphic, Røyst and Fusebox for their help organising an awesome triple bill in Leeds and Sheffield Jazz for inviting us back to what remains one of our favourite ever cities to play.

Check out some photos from the two gigs in our gallery – more gigs for 2016 to be announced early in the new year, keep an eye out…

PRS for Music Foundation support

We’re delighted to announce that the creation, development and rehearsal of brand new music for Beats & Pieces over the coming months will be supported by PRS for Music Foundation. Large ensembles are by their very nature expensive and difficult things to keep alive and so we’re really grateful to organisations like PRSF (and others such as Help Musicians UK) for their support!

UK gigs September/October 2015 – thanks!

We had a really great time last week on tour, playing gigs in Scarborough, Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham – thanks to all our promoter partners for hosting us and to all the amazing audiences that came along to see us! There are a selection of photos in our gallery and below you can watch highlights of a fairly brutal air hockey game in one of Scarborough’s finest arcades…

We’ve got more UK gigs in November in Leeds and Sheffield, all details are on our gigs page! See you there…
