I’ve just uploaded a load of pictures from our gig at Band on the Wall in June – there’s few below but check out the rest in our photo gallery. As well as photos from the gig, we also had a quick photoshoot in the morning while microphones were being set up for the recording, and I’ve also uploaded the pick of the bunch from that! All photos are by the rather excellent Martin Wilson.
Also keep an ear to the ground for news about the recording from the night, which you’ll be able to hear very very soon…!

Although I’ve written about the Band on the Wall gig last week on facebook and twitter, I thought it would be nice to put something up here too with a couple of photos from the day. Thanks again to everyone who came for making it such an amazing night (we had a great time, sounded like you did too?!) and thanks to everyone at Band on the Wall for helping it all happen…
Also I have a few posters left over so if you’d like one, just make a donation of £3 or more to cover postage using the yellow ‘Donate’ button on the right (include your address) and I’ll send you one – first come first served!

Following the round up over the past few days of photos from our recent prize winning trip to Germany, I thought I’d post a round up with full size versions of a few of the best ones…
This first one was taken by Robert Piffer, a photographer from Burghausen. Think its great how he’s managed to fit the entire band into one shot, and especially with me being mid air at the time!
This one I like for the posing going on – all very boy band…
I think this one captures how we were all feeling whilst watching the other bands in the competition after we’d played our set – pretty nervous to say the least
…whilst this one captures how we were feeling after it was announced that we’d won! (photo again by Robert Piffer)
And I like this one as you get a feel for how beautiful a place Burghausen is – sun was shining, by the river, castle at the top of the hill… Nick and Owen just look like they’re taking it all in!
Finally wanted to put up this video of us walking down the main street in Burghausen, which has plaques of all the jazz greats that have played at their festival over its 42 years – its incredible the names that are there. Playing over the video is some audio recorded when we played before Chick Corea and Gary Burton, recorded by Bayern2 radio.
Thanks again to everyone at B-Jazz for treating us so well, and thanks to everyone we met in and around Burghausen! Hopefully be back soon…

We were leaving Burghausen just after lunch to head back to Munich and fly home, but had a bit of time after breakfast to nip over to Austria and along the river before a quick bit of lunch in the main square.

Our second day in Burghausen – feeling pretty chuffed after the competition the night before, we went and had a look around the castle which offered some great views over the old town. Graham was particularly excited by the castle -

In the evening, we had the honour of performing the opening concert of the festival playing before Chick Corea & Gary Burton which obviously we really enjoyed! It had been a long couple of days but there was of course still plenty of energy left for some drinking and playing in the jazz cellar later on…

Lots of photos from our second full day in Germany, but it was a long day when lots happened so there’s lots to show… It was an early start to get the train from Munich to Burghausen (note the time on the clock as we wait on the platform for our second train of the day), and then once we arrived there was a bit of time to settle into our amazing accommodation and take a quick look around Burghausen before a late afternoon soundcheck – there was even time for a quick nip over to Austria! Then there was the competition itself in the evening… We were the first band on so we could relax (a bit!) whilst watching the other 4 amazing bands – Interfoam from Denmark, Offshore Quintet from Germany, David Helbock’s Random Control from Austria, and the Dirk Haefner Trio from Germany. As you know, we won! Cue much weissbier drinking and jamming with guys from the other bands into the early hours in the jazz cellar…
Some of the photographs below are copyright of local photographers Frank Rasimowitz or Robert Piffer – see descriptions of the individual photos for details.

Over the next few days I’m going to be putting up some of the best photos that we took of our time in Germany, starting with today – getting from Manchester to Munich and then spending a free day (and night!) there, its a really nice place. It also gives an excellent opportunity to showcase my knack for producing semi-amusing animated gifs… This one stars Anton Hunter (with supporting roles from Graham South and a man doing trays in the background) and was taken over lunch in the Englischer Garten. There’s another beauty of a gif to come later in the week so keep checking back!
Photos over the week are courtesy of Ben Cottrell, Finlay Panter, Owen Bryce, Sam Healey, Simon Lodge & Anton Hunter
