After hearing loads of good things (including lots from our friends at Concrete Moniker who’ve been using it for a while), I’ve moved the whole operation over to Bandcamp. Ultimately this will lead to the EP no longer being available for free download, although if you still haven’t grabbed it during the 9+ months that its been free you can still do so from Bandcamp – for a limited time only so be quick! – but even once we start charging to download, you’ll still be able to stream it in full for free. You have to give your email address to download, which will mean that you will be added to our mailing list, but of course you will always have the option to unsubscribe at any point. You’ll also notice the newly reissued EP is available to buy and there’s pictures of it in all its glory – exciting!

I’ve been a bit slack recently with recording live gigs for free download (sorry), but I’m planning to get right back on it for upcoming gigs – live recordings will always be there to download free of charge, although of course you’ll always be able to make a donation…
Check out our Bandcamp site here, and as always I’d be interested to hear any comments (good or bad) about the new system – get in touch by emailing info@beatsnpieces.net

…has left the building! In this issue: exciting UK TOUR news, round up of all the places we’ve been spotted on the internet, and news of gigs from friends HAQ and the Andy Schofield/Jo McCallum Jazz Orchestra.
If you weren’t fortunate enough to receive it as a member of our mailing list, never fear! You can rectify the situation by signing up to the mailing list here and reading newsletter 002 online here.

Finally, the first Beats & Pieces newsletter has left my laptop and is now winging its way to literally tens of inboxes worldwide… Don’t fret if you didn’t sign up in time to receive it though, you can read it online here and join in the fun. All future issues of the newsletter will also be available from the mailing list page.

Following on from my descent into twitter (if you’re not following me already please do, I don’t really have many so far…) I’ve been keeping up with the 21st century by trying to get a decent mailing list system working and think I’ve finally cracked it! Sign up now for a periodic e-mail (not too often, promise!) about what we’ve been up to and what we will be up to in the near future. And if you do run into any problems with the form or anything else then let me know – one issue that I’ve found so far is that sometimes the confirmation e-mails get sorted into your junk folder, so maybe check there if it doesn’t arrive and add beatsnpieces.net to your list of allowed domains so it doesn’t happen again!
I’ll be sending the first mailing out in about a week so sign up now to make sure you don’t miss out…

To go with the brand spanking new photo gallery section of the website, I’ve now uploaded a selection of live recordings for free download which hopefully should tide you over until the EP is released in a few weeks. Access the files via the audio page, enjoy!

We spent a couple of days recording at the beginning of this month, and so far its all sounding really promising and I’m very excited about the release of the EP! It’ll be out hopefully around November on Efpi Records, so watch this space…
You can amuse yourself in the meantime by taking a look at the new photo gallery thats got some pictures up from the recording session, and where I’ll be adding select photos from previous gigs over the next few days. We’ve also set up a YouTube channel for Efpi Records, where you can currently find some videos of the Hunter/Andreae Quartet at the Manchester Jazz Festival as well as some footage from the Beats & Pieces recording sessions for ‘broken’ – enjoy!

Just thought I’d apologise for the lack of updates on the site since May, I’ve been really busy with my final recitals at the RNCM and rehearsing for a tour to America with the college wind orchestra but now I’m back and graduated so posts will be becoming a bit more frequent! I’m also going to update the live recordings archive and add a few photos from the gigs in May in Manchester and Liverpool, so I hope you enjoy them… There’s also been some exciting new things happening by friends of Beats & Pieces which I’ll be posting about, so do check them out as well – and as always, get involved by leaving your thoughts and comments.
