To go with the brand spanking new photo gallery section of the website, I’ve now uploaded a selection of live recordings for free download which hopefully should tide you over until the EP is released in a few weeks. Access the files via the audio page, enjoy!

We spent a couple of days recording at the beginning of this month, and so far its all sounding really promising and I’m very excited about the release of the EP! It’ll be out hopefully around November on Efpi Records, so watch this space…
You can amuse yourself in the meantime by taking a look at the new photo gallery thats got some pictures up from the recording session, and where I’ll be adding select photos from previous gigs over the next few days. We’ve also set up a YouTube channel for Efpi Records, where you can currently find some videos of the Hunter/Andreae Quartet at the Manchester Jazz Festival as well as some footage from the Beats & Pieces recording sessions for ‘broken’ – enjoy!

I’m currently in the process of packing cos I’m moving house soon, and its boring me so much I’ve desperately been thinking of something I could be doing instead. Hence the flash of inspiration that led to this post…
I thought it could be interesting to put up a few of the things I’ve been listening to recently, and that this would be a perfect time to start as I’ve had a lot of music playing whilst I’ve been packing. So here, in no particular order, is a selection of the most recently played on my iPod – as always, please do leave your comments/suggestions!
Radiohead – Harry Patch (In Memory Of)
Gil Evans & The Monday Night Orchestra – Live At Sweet Basil Vol. 1
Portishead – Roseland NYC Live
The Beatles – Abbey Road
Hunter/Andreae Quartet – EP1
If you’re in the UK you’ve probably heard about the new Radiohead track in memory of Harry Patch, the last surviving veteran of World War I. The track itself is beautiful, Jonny Greenwood’s string arrangement is amazing as always – download it from radiohead.com even if you don’t like the band as all profits go to the British Legion.
Not much to say about the other choices except that the Gil Evans album is fantastic, very 1980s in places but in a good way… Of course it was the 40th anniversary of the release of Abbey Road recently which reminded me that I hadn’t listened to it in ages (similarly Portishead, its been a while), and I couldn’t resist the opportunity for yet another bit of shameless promotion by mentioning the HAQ EP, still available for purchase at Efpi Records.
Back to the packing then, can’t really put it off any longer…
